About Dr. Denise Hall, (Psy.D.) CCC. RRP.

My experience includes over 30 years of counseling and therapy, career development and coaching, training and seminar presentations, family life education, and vocational rehabilitation consulting work. Certifications include Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP).

I have a doctorate degree (Psy.D) in clinical psychology from California Southern University and a MA in counseling psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Vancouver and Chicago campuses. My graduate projects respectively, were on occupational health focusing on organizational health and compassion fatigue in the counselling, health care, and vocational rehabilitation professions. I published a book In Harm’s Way: Professional Health Care Workers at Risk

My counseling and therapy experience was gained working with injured workers, private practice clients, HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ clients, and in a substance abuse treatment program for adolescents and their families. I conducted training activities and presentations for professionals in the psychology field at provincial, national, regional and international conferences. Another area of work experience focused on vocational rehabilitation, vocational assessments, disability management, work health issues, professional burnout, and career development.

I completed my internship for the doctorate program in the interdisciplinary pain management program at Lifemark (Centric Health). My practicum for the MA was completed in a substance abuse treatment program for women. Along with extensive professional development, another area of training was participation in  an Intergenerational Family Therapy certificate. Also, I have a BA in Communications from SFU.

My extensive professional development background includes Clinical Hypnosis, Trauma treatment, Addictions treatment, Energy Psychology, EMDR including recent training in Chronic Pain and Trauma, Cognitive/Behavioral techniques, Narrative, and Solution-focused and Adlerian approaches. In the area of Energy Psychology and bio-field training I completed Reiki Master and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) training.

My involvement in creative writing courses and recent academic writing has been the inspiration for the development of articles for Blogs on the Dr. Denise Hall Therapist and Raven Work Health Consulting  websites.  I have also published articles in the Rehab Review Magazine (Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada) and Cognica and blog publications of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
